You would be involved with the teachers of OM Mulumikiza schools (early elementary), working one-on-one with the Malawian teachers, assisting them as they are being trained as teachers. You would play a role in checking that the teachers do their planning and lesson plans and then observe them in class and help them where they struggle. There may be opportunities to teach the class with interpretation in certain subjects like English and Mathematics.  If you are good at administration you may be asked to handle and train our teachers in school administration.
Weekend programs are not set, but can be worked out on arrival. Normally Saturdays are market day and doing of washing. On occasion we have a training, ministry or outreach.

Sundays can be spent having personal time with the Lord or you can choose to attend a local church service.

The location is remote and rustic: There is no electricity, but solar provides light and there is gas and charcoal for cooking. There is no running water. Water is from a well and there is a person drawing water for drinking and bathing. Washing of clothes is done by hand and there is someone available to do this. Western shops are not available in the local town, but are 150 km away. Public transport is available to bigger towns. Internet access is available once a week. Accommodation is available at the school where all teachers live together in single rooms with bathing and cooking facilities.

Skills/ Experience Required: Education training and teaching experience.
Qualifications of on-field supervisor: Certificate in Early Childhood as well as Mission Training.  The supervisor has 8 years’ experience in teaching, starting schools, leading a team of teachers and hosting visitors on outreach.
